About

Thanks for visiting our blog – a recent joint venture by DAMART.  Having discovered a shared interest in canals and their associated architecture we have often set out on a fine day to amble around Birmingham’s abundant canal network.  The blog concept came about when my partner Dave (the more media savvy of the two of us) suggested that we should document our walks and aim to cover and record as much of our local network as possible.

Neither of us can claim to be “canal experts” – what is written is from the perspective of two blokes who are born and bred Brummies who happen to have often wandered around our city’s extensive canal network.  We both have enquiring minds and a desire to learn a little along the way.  What we do learn we aim to document here.  We hope that you enjoy what you read.  Please feel free to add any comments, especially if you recognise any of the places in the photos or can add to local history.

See you on the cut!

Hi Guys,

I’ve just discovered your blog and found it really interesting. We’ve got a two year old whippet, and regularly walk him around Warren’s Hall and Bumble Hole. It’s a beautiful spot in an industrial area. I was just wondering if you know whether it is possible to walk from Bumble Hole to Netherton Reservoir, or Hawne Basin in Halesowen, and whether they are nice enough routes?

Hi,

Came across your site via Digbeth is Good and thought you might be interested in hearing about a photography project I’m running in Birmingham. Its called Birmingham {Viewpoint} and the concept is to see the different ways different people view the same thing.

This months subject is Birmingham Canals.

More info can be found here: http://www.birminghamviewpoint.com

Cheers,

Pete
